Bookshop Description:

Pen'rallt (as we have become known to our regular customers) was established in 2011 and is stocked with carefully selected new and second-hand books in both languages of Wales. (Our second-hand books are individually sourced using public transport). Siop Lyfrau'r Senedd-dy ('Senedd-dy/Parliament House') is our sister bookshop, established in 2021 in response to a request from Canolfan Owain Glyndwr's voluntary committee tasked with the care of this historic building and the site of which it is a part. Here, where the town's library was once located, we concentrate on books in Welsh, Welsh interest and affairs and culture in both Welsh and English and stock resources for Welsh learners and for visitors to enjoy and learn more about Wales. The adjoining space and atmosphere of Senedd-dy has been perfect for our events since the pandemic, with Pen'rallt Gallery Bookshop, beautiful but too much of a squash for our increasingly popular literary events. The Gallery part of our name reflects the walls we dedicate not only to bookshelves, but to exhibiting photography. Our revived (post-pandemic) Open Photography Exhibition shows work from all-comers, those new to photography and professionals. This complements our Ffotogaleri a few doors along (we sometimes wish we were connected by an underground tunnel, especially when it is raining) where we show the work of established photographers, primarily those using film (analogue photography) and where our unrivalled stock (certainly in Wales, maybe further afield) of photography books for sale are shelved.
